Our office will be closed Monday, September 1st and Tuesday, September 2nd to allow our staff some well-deserved family time over the Labour Day weekend. Emails, phone calls, and contact forms will be returned when we re-open on Wednesday, September 3rd. If your pet is in urgent need of care in the meantime, please contact your regular veterinarian or one of the urgent/emergency care clinics in the area. Thank you for your understanding.

Does euthanasia hurt?

The short answer is no; however, the injection of a sedative prior to the euthanasia procedure is sometimes associated with a small amount of discomfort, like a quick burn or a sting. After that initial injection, your pet will become very sleepy and will feel no pain associated with the injection of the pentobarbital solution used for the euthanasia. All they will feel is that they are drifting off to sleep.
